Gabriella Monolo tells us about her return to Africa as a P.A.C.E. volunteer.

Dreams come true: it's time for Africa.

My experience in Aber from 1985 to 1987 was an unfulfilled African dream, only postponed in time. For many years I worked as a doctor and manager in the Italian healthcare system, but my African dream never faded and my desire to return to Africa resurfaced with vigor.

Retired but not tired. And here I am in Uganda, in Kyatiri, as a volunteer for P.A.C.E. Onlus, sharing my time and collaborating with the local people. The days pass quickly despite the African pace of life, and there is time for a few moments of work in the dispensary, smart working on documents and guidelines, various meetings for the development of P.A.C.E. projects, and community life. There is also time for reading, resting, and enjoying this paradise of vegetation, flowers, and fruit.

In three months, I was able to follow the seasonal rhythm of work in the fields, people's daily lives, children's activities at school and during playtime, and my presence has now become the norm for the locals too.

I can definitely conclude this first stay in Kyatiri, leaving the door open for future visits and, above all, to continue the collaboration with P.A.C.E., which is broadening its horizons with exciting new development projects, especially in the health sector.
